How Do Storage Auctions Work?

There’s a first time for everything! Unbox a gem with Boxed Up storage auctions.

Storage auctions occur when the rent for a unit has not been paid for a certain amount of time. After we’ve alerted the renter of the storage unit of the delinquency in a number of ways, the unit can go to auction.

Bidders will have to bid on the entire storage unit at once - the contents cannot be separated out! We will post pictures from outside the storage unit, but we are not allowed to go through the items and take individual pictures.

So, when you bid on a storage unit, you won’t know exactly what you’re getting until after the gavel comes down. You will be responsible for emptying the storage unit as well. After all, it’s your stuff now!

Storage Auction Rules

Here are a few of the rules in place at a storage auction

You cannot enter the unit or examine the contents closely until after winning the auction
The buyer may have to return personal items to the previous owner, such as photos, legal documents, and other records
Vehicles do not come with a title and are instead sold for parts
The winning bid must be paid in cash
The winning bidder is responsible for emptying the unit within 24 hours
Firearms within the unit must be turned over to law enforcement
