Boxed Up Self Storage: A Timeline of Growth
The foundation of Boxed Up Self Storage was laid in 2004 when Sunil Puri first became involved with a property known as Post Office Self Storage. This property has since evolved into what is today known as Boxed Up Self Storage Rockford.
Our innovative journey continued with the first big box conversion of a vacant shopping center in Loves Park, which opened its doors in 2017. This was followed by our inaugural ground-up development in Machesney Park in 2021, and another significant big box conversion in DeKalb in 2022. That same year, we also launched three additional ground-up developments throughout the Rockford market.
In 2023, First Midwest Group expanded further, acquiring two parcels of land for self-storage development in Northern Illinois, continuing to grow the Boxed Up Self Storage brand.
Embracing Technology: Remote Operating Platform.
In 2024, in conjunction with our 40th anniversary, First Midwest Group adopted a remote operating platform. This strategic update employs cutting-edge technology and innovative systems to centralize administrative functions, further enhancing our operational efficiency and setting new standards in the storage industry.
